About Us

Taro and Banana are the main ingredients that graces our tables from breakfast to dinner…

About

At PolyBites Limited, we’re bringing the vibrant and nourishing flavours of the Pacific Islands to the world, starting with our delicious Taro and Banana Chips. For too long, these beloved snacks, staples of Polynesian culture, have been a treasured taste often only accessible through loved ones returning home. Operated by sisters Catherine and Angelica, PolyBites is changing that, sharing a piece of our heritage with everyone.

For these sisters, their Samoan heritage is the heart and soul of PolyBites. Taro and banana aren’t just ingredients; they are fundamental to our traditions, gracing tables from breakfast to dinner. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate this rich culinary heritage.

Our values are deeply rooted in respect for the land and its people. We are committed to sustainability, working closely with Pacific farmers and communities to source our taro and bananas ethically and responsibly. Community support is paramount; we believe in giving back to those who cultivate these vital crops, ensuring our business contributes positively to their livelihoods. Above all, we are passionate about celebrating the rich flavours and traditions of the Pacific through our authentic snacks.

Our Vision

Our vision for PolyBites is ambitious: to become a globally recognized brand synonymous with the taste and spirit of the Pacific Islands. We aspire to create economic opportunities for Pacific farmers and producers, shining a light on our unique culture through the universal language of food.

The drivers behind Poly Bites progress

Beyond business success, Catherine is driven to inspire other Pacific entrepreneurs, particularly those from underrepresented communities, proving that passion and purpose can indeed build something meaningful. Her journey in business is intrinsically linked to her desire to uplift and empower others. Her experience as the founder of Pasifika Business Advisory, collaborating with agencies like Dash Social and numerous small businesses, has equipped her with the strategic insight and business acumen to navigate the global market. PolyBites, currently available at local Christchurch establishments like Etta Ploynesians Takeaways, Hoon Hay Dairy, and Lisa Boutique, is a tangible expression of her dedication to showcasing the flavours of her home. With a strong academic foundation and over a decade of experience in the New Zealand SME sector, Catherine’s drive is fueled by a desire to make a global impact, elevating often-overlooked Pacific businesses. As a mother of three, she embodies the resilience and determination that underpins PolyBites’ journey.
